GREENLIGHT LASER PROSTATECTOMY
Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH) is an increase in the size of the prostate gland without malignancy. It is one of the most common male urological disorders. By the age of 60 half of all men have an enlarged prostate of which 25% will require treatment for their symptoms (LUTS) due to the effect on their quality of life.
Transurethral Resection of the Prostate (TURP) has been the historical gold standard for patients requiring surgical intervention. Over the last decade however, there has been an increasing demand for a minimally invasive procedure with comparable results to TURP, while minimising morbidity and cost.
GreenLight laser photovaporistion of the prostate is one of these laser technologies which has gained worldwide acceptance, and is now available in Perth Western Australia at Hollywood Private Hospital.
